As the doom and gloom of the Credit Crunch carries on in the financial world there is an odd consequence that is apparent in the world of lotteries.
EuroMillions was last week at a £13 Million jackpot then re-estimated to £14 Million. After the rollover on Friday it now stands at £25 £26 Million, this Friday the 30th of January 2009. That’s double the jackpot from one draw to the next. It is as clear as the day is long that demand for EuroMillions is increasing. Tickets are being bought fast and furious.
The technical term for this is “countercyclical”. Which is used to describe products that buck the trend.
